HAPPINESS
God Offers Happiness. People Pursue Happiness.
Texans believe in the pursuit of Happiness, not the pursuit of entitlements. The founders of this great Republic believed in limited Government, and that the people were capable of managing their own interests. Texans reject imposition.
The Pursuit of Happiness
The Pursuit of Happiness starts with truth and sacrifice. The road to long lasting and fruitful happiness is paved with sacrifice, personal accountability, and selflessness. The people must take responsibility for the Government they elect. The pursuit of happiness involves performing our civic duty and holding your government accountable by voting and replacing leaders who refuse to uphold their oath to the United States Constitution. Equally accountable are the governed or We The People; for our duty as a people is to remain virtuous and moral because, as our Founders warned; only a virtuous people deserve a virtuous government.
We are responsible for our very own destiny, and the path that we chose to take will determine our final destination. Happiness is not the same for everyone, and that is why we all have a responsibility to pursue happiness for ourselves. Happiness is not guaranteed to anyone as all must pursue it with truth and sacrifice. The founding of our great nation is a testament that a nation founded on virtue and the principles of truth and sacrifice, will stand the test of times. That is, until that nation forgets or rejects those virtues and principles then it will crumble.
Our founders chose to leave Great British in search for a better life for themselves and their offspring/Posterity. Among other reasons, they faced religious persecution from the Church of England. They wanted to worship God freely and wanted economic prosperity.
In their quest for Religious and economic freedom or the pursuit of happiness, our founders did not try to usurp the British government on British soil, nor did they see themselves as incapacitated victims. They understood that in order to pursue happiness for themselves, that it was incumbent upon them to take responsibility for their own lives and not sit around whining to the British government to pursue happiness on their behalf.
Our Founders risked sickness, suffering, and death; crossed vast bodies of waters to their promise land (America). They placed their faith in God and not government to help them create their own destiny and to secure the blessings of liberty for themselves and their Posterity.
Even after leaving Great Britain, their struggles to obtain the freedom to pursue happiness did not end. When a government becomes tyrannical, it takes a revolution to regain your freedom. It requires that the people develop a strong sense of commitment and willingness to sacrifice to regain those liberties. To make matters worse, when the people denounce virtue and feel entitled to free housing and free food, they create a tyrannical government.
Once the governed denounce virtue, they naturally relinquish their rights over to a tyrannical government, and those rights are gone forever. The government slowly acquires and accumulates unchecked powers when the people fail to realize that it is their responsibility alone to pursue happiness for themselves, not expect their government to give it to them.
In seeking entitlements from the government instead of being responsible for your own destiny, you have essentially surrendered your rights to your government.
That is why our founders rightfully named it the pursuit of happiness and not the pursuit of entitlements. Any Government whose goal is to usurp the will of its people, will hand out entitlements to the governed in exchange for their rights.
Entitlements are never free, someone else is footing the bill, and it is not the government. It is the taxpayer. The most dignified thing a person can do is to work for their happiness and not rely on others for it; especially not your government.
God alone creates life and the government should not propose legislation that destroys innocent life. Choosing Life makes way for the blessings of liberty. Liberty allows us a path to pursue happiness for ourselves and our children. The responsibility of the government is to uphold the Constitution and ensure that our rights to life, liberty, and happiness are not infringed upon. The pursuit of happiness is solely our responsibility as a people.
This is why We, The People must make time and effort to perform our civic duty, and get involved in the affairs of holding our government accountable. What sets America apart from other nations is that America has been afforded a Constitutional framework rooted in Biblical virtues and principles, and rule of law. A a result, we have a path and a process to address our grievances lawfully and peacefully.
Embedded in the framework of our nation’s founding documents are references made about God and His Holy Word. Our founders were not shy about making the God of the Bible a significant source of wisdom to be effective leaders.
It is for this very reason that when Abraham Lincoln was faced with the decision to abolish slavery and risk secession from the Union by Southern states, that he stood his ground and engaged a civil war. President Lincoln understood that the founding of our nation was based on the principle that all men were created equal. If America had to move forward, Abraham Lincoln believed that America had to uphold and live up to its convictions and standards as stated in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. For those reasons, Abraham Lincoln fought the Confederate States (Southern States) as he believed that slavery had to be abolished to restore the same liberty to all men including the black slaves. Which in turn upheld the Constitution and the spirit of this nation’s founding.
He understood that the issue of slavery was a litmus test to America’s founding principle that all men are created equal and endowed by their creator God with certain unalienable rights to Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. If this was in fact America’s founding principle, then America had to be held to account and live by its own gospel.
Abraham Lincoln was a true leader who understood that in order for the people to pursue happiness for themselves, that they too needed to be afforded their God given rights to life and liberty. All three factors are interrelated.
If all men are created equally, then President Lincoln concluded that the Black slaves were also equal and deserved the same liberties that were afforded to other men. He also realized that the black slave could only pursue happiness if their blessings to liberty was also afforded to them. It is for this reason that Abraham Lincoln, a Republican president, issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863, declaring the freedom of enslaved people in Confederate territories during the Civil War.
As your next U.S. Senator, I pledge to defend your God given right to Life, Liberty, and Happiness as our founding fathers intended in the Declaration of Independence and our Nation’s Constitution. America was once in a Constitutional crisis when slavery was common practice. The issue of slavery was very divisive, sensitive, and taboo to talk about back then; similar to the issue of abortion. However, a brave leader such as President Lincoln did not shy away from standing on truth and conviction. In the end, he upheld the constitution in leading the charge to abolish slavery. The state of Texas owes a significant debt to the preborn American babies whose precious lives were abruptly terminated by the Roe. vs. Wade ruling, which was initiated from Dallas, Texas. Send me to Washington, DC, to right our wrongs and take a stand for life on behalf of all Texans and restore our Constitution.
