Senator Cornyn Has Many Attributes and Dispositions. However, The Conviction To Lead Texas is Not One of Them.

Senator Cornyn is not a true leader with conviction. I will let his own words confirm that our U.S. Senator is lacking in conviction and vision.

Leading GOP senator: Trump could be an ‘albatross’ to party. Washington

Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn raised serious concerns Monday about Donald Trump’s surging presidential bid, becoming the highest-ranking congressional Republican to express fears about the real estate mogul’s candidacy.

“We can’t have a nominee be an albatross around the down-ballot races,” Cornyn told CNN when asked if he had concerns about the prospect of Trump winning the GOP race. “That’s a concern of mine.”

When asked if Trump would be a drain on the party’s bid to keep control of the Senate, the Texas senator said, “I think he certainly is a controversial figure. I think we need someone who can unify the party, as opposed to divide the party.”

Republican senators consider resolution to protect special counsel Mueller’s job.

Now, at least two senior Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee say the best alternative may be a nonbinding resolution that would convey to the White House a “sense of the Senate” that Mueller should be left alone to do his job.

Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, wrote about the idea in The Wall Street Journal, and Texas Sen. John Cornyn, the No. 2 Republican in the Senate, backed it.

The resolution “may be a way forward because it avoids the unconstitutionality issue on a bill that the president won’t sign and the House won’t pass,” Cornyn said. “So that may be a place for us to land, because, as I have said, I think it would be a mistake” for Trump to fire Mueller. “I think if we can come to some common ground on a resolution that may be the way forward.”

Some Senate Republicans are finding fault with President Donald Trump paying tribute to Jan. 6 rioters at a rally over the weekend — painting it as politically unwise to replay events from the insurrection as he launches another White House bid.

”I’ve run a number of elections and I never seen somebody successfully get elected office running on something that happened in the past,” said Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas). “In other words, I think people want positive visions of the future rather than relitigating the events in the past, so I don’t think it’s a recipe for success.”

‘I don’t intend to support him’: GOP senators push back on Trump’s controversial town hall claims.
John Cornyn, a member of Senate Republican leadership, told CNN after the town hall that Trump’s inability to appeal to voters outside of his base is “a problem.”

“I don’t think he showed anything differently than he’s shown people before,” said Cornyn. “He’s got a unique ability to rally his base, but not to grow beyond his base, which is a problem.”
